Digital Springs is a bold initiative focused on rural revitalization in Japan. By launching a series of pop-up tech retreats in traditional ryokan, we bring together small groups of pioneers in Web3 innovation in Japan, AI development, and creative technology. These curated gatherings lay the foundation for our larger goal: a decentralized network of online onsen communities that combine natural energy, digital infrastructure, and cultural immersion.

Japan’s countryside is full of untapped potential, yet rural areas remain disconnected from the country’s larger tech ecosystem. Vacant inns, dormant infrastructure, and shrinking communities offer an opportunity for transformation—but only if matched with the right digital tools, sustainable models, and a long-term vision. Rural revitalization in Japan requires not just policy but participation.
The Approach
Each gathering informs the next phase of the project: building a permanent infrastructure of online onsen communitiesacross the country. These digital-first sanctuaries will combine physical presence, remote collaboration, DAO governance, and local impact to redefine what innovation looks like in Japan’s countryside.
Our approach draws inspiration from other projects like JP Vinyl and Akiyaz, both of which prove how niche, people-first platforms can transform overlooked spaces.

Our pop-up format creates a low-barrier entry point for experimentation while giving back to host villages through shared value and skill-sharing.
